Jerry, this has been for me almost an "eternal" problem. I've examined
many of the collections and find them all lacking. (Maybe I just haven't
seen enough of them, but I FEEL like I've seen them all.) My conclusion
has simply been to become familiar with the intermediate repertoire--scant
as it may be--and develope my own "collection."
The best intermediate collection of etudes I know of are Hite's two fine
anthologies. These coupled with selected intermediate solo repertoire
are in my view the best road to take.
