I mostly play recitals & chamber music. Use Oliveri Tempered #4, w/ a Bob
Scott mpc designed for these thicker, but less dense reeds. For me a 118 tip
openingworks good, but w. a very gradual mpc curve, to let me focus the tone.
Mostly I balance them with a reed knife, & use the procedures in Ben Armato's
reed pamphlet (ie, shift reed on mpc to find harder side, also turn mpc in
mouth to do same) Also often have to thin reed just below tip.
