I too experimented with moving the thumb rest, and now basically have it
slightly lower than normal..my right hand dexterity seems improved.. Have not
tried adjustable thumb rest, but recall that one brand had it standard, so
perhaps a replacement from the factory for that brand might be cheaper...Was
it the Selmer 10-G?
Also, this position seems to insure that I take in an ample amount of mouthpiec
