From: kurtheisig@-----.net Subj: [kl] Pruefer and Penzel & Mueller Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1969 19:00:00 -0500
Pruefer was made in Providence R I, and according to Langwill he had worked for the Penzel & Mueller company for awhile.
I once re-built a Selmer Navy clarinet and asked Ralph Morgan about it since it did not look like any Selmer I had ever seen. He said that during WWII Selmer sub-contracted work to Penzel & Mueller to meet government demands.
It would be interesting if someone here had much information on the two companies.
I once met someone who knew someone who had worked for Pruefer, but I can't find my notes about it.
It is interesting that Langwill says that Al Laubin made oboes in the Penzel & Mueller facilities.
Has anyone ever done a research paper on them?
Kurt
