Karl,

True often, but not always.

I remember the terrible cuts on Vandoren clarinet reeds in the late ' 60's or early ' 70's. At the time I was not good at finishing reeds and switched to Solo Esser by Gerhard Steuer in Lindau Bodensee.

I have Vandoren bari sax reeds from about 1960 and the cuts were much better than today or any point in between.

Now that I finish all reeds I treasure those badly cut Vandoren reeds for the quality of the cane. I just finish them myself, as I always do.
