Mary,

It is much better to re-line the case with upholstery grade satin. Silk has advantages.

The fuzzy stuff winds up in your tone holes combined with old breakfast to degrade the quality of your playing.

I asked Ralph Morgan how they ever got to using this miserable stuff and he told me how an executive at Conn, perhaps in the '20's did a case in red plush and then showed it at a board meeting and wowed everyone with how well it would sell instruments. We repairman have been cleaning this stuff out of clarinets ever since.

Go with heavy grade silk satin.
