Kim,

I do like to clean my students' reeds in the ultrasonic. When you get an
ultrasonic from me, I share with you my formula for a solution which you can
easily mix up at home, using stuff you probably already have on hand.
This solution, among other attributes, will kill any and all germs AND
VIRUSES known to humankind. (I told my sister, a nurse-practitioner, what
was in it and she said "Yep, that'll do it!")

So... the solution in the cleaner and the cleaner's tank is always sterile.
You'll find yourself replacing the solution when the debris at the bottom of
the tank motivates you to do so.

I try to keep my student's reeds playing as well as possible and their
expenditure on reeds as low as I (practically) can, and the ultrasonic helps
to do that.
