An amazing performance, if not a perfect one.
The camera angle used for the contrabassoon at the beginning of the return
to the slower section somehow made me feel like I'd been forced to retreat
up a tree by a moose. LOL
I really love the contrabassoon; this former version looks like it was
nearly half bocal.
Regarding your question about the IDRS, the answer is yes. It used to be an
annual tradition. I played in 1986 and loved it. I believe we had 27 oboes,
24 bassoons and 6 contrabassoons.
I hope the IDRS hasn't abandoned the idea of full-sized performances at
future conferences.
