In my limited experience, bassoon reeds do indeed leak. I have not noticed a
blade leak in many years, but the end of the tube (bocal seal) sometimes
leaks, as well as the space between the two visible wires. The wire leak is
usually easy - tighten the wires slightly; the fizzing at the bocal can
usually be fixed with a reamer or a little melted beeswax. I guess the Geek
would do as well, but don't know if such sophistication is necessary. When
the mid-tube leak is persistent (at least in my experience) it is commonly
an old reed that's coming apart, and it is time for recycling as compost.
Damned clever solution, the Geek, as it eliminates the need for that
annoying "skin" and such.
