Many years ago I tried it and I can tell you that if you go far enough
you will hear hissing coming from the vent. I don't remember any pitch
problems but I do remember the hissing sound. I never tried it again. I
think it's probably something better left to a repairman. It did make
the octaves speak more readily but I didn't think that hissing sound was
a good tradeoff.
