Mike,

When I had a GA Loree, my teacher at the time, Jimmy Caldwell, enlarged its
lower octave vent. I don't know precisely what he used to enlarge the hole,
except to say that it looked sort of like a screwdriver. You can buy itsy
bitsy drill bits at a hobby shop, you know. Maybe you have a Hobbytown USA
in your area; they have them for sure. I can't recall if he enlarged the top
octave vent or not.

I would really suggest consulting a good repairperson, though, someone who
is also an oboe player and reed-maker. The octaves really shouldn't be doing
that.
