Bach is serious.... Bach was a serious musician who also had a sense of humor and a sense of life and love. He was conscientious and pflichtbewusst (had a sense of duty) but he was a man who loved, laughed and cried. Not knowing the difference between what is serious and what is human and humorous is just as fatal today as it was back in Bach's day. Performance art is not the same as pure l'art pour l'art chamber music. Not recognizing the difference, judging the one in the context of the other is just off sides. Lighten up.
