I attended as well (in Seattle at 9:00 in the morning *yawn*) and also
enjoyed it tremendously. It was well-attended, and people applauded when
the conductor came out, as well as at the end of acts and the curtain calls
-- I had wondered if they would. I was also impressed with the in-pit,
multi-camera work (I have played concerts that were televised and know how
easy it is for the crew to be, shall we say, underprepared. All the more
impressive when it is done expertly), loved all the shots of the ww players
at appropriate spots, but was dismayed that the EH player was never shown.
Did you notice, however, that Pedro Diaz (EHist) was the only player named
in the closing credits?

Subject: [DR-L] Tristan und Isolde at the Met

Hello,

Today I attended an HD performance of Tristan und Isolde at the Met from the
comfort of a local theater. It was really wonderful. Of particular interest
to this list was the fact that the people operating the cameras were very
sensitive to the music. During the preludes to all three acts, they moved
the camera's point of view to whatever instrument was most prominent at the
moment. The oboes got a lot of exposure. They did some backstage stuff
during the intermissions so I was really hoping they would show the person
playing the EH that opens act 3, but they didn't. Oh well...

Anyway, have any of you tried the HD performances? I'm ready to sign up for
another. The latest issue of Opera News indicates that La Scala and other
theaters are beginning to do this. I find it quite exciting.
