Subj: [DR-L] Staying in shape during forced time off

Any suggestions for exercises for keeping the oboe embouchure toned
during enforced layoffs? I hate restarting after taking time off. It
often takes a week before my tone start to sound decent again. I'm
playing around with squeezes: 1, 2 or 3 per second for a minute, or one
every 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 10, 12 seconds for a minute. That covers
about a 10-minute workout which can be done while washing dishes.

I just had a tooth pulled, and was a bit worried to feel a bit of a
draft (in the first hour) where the root breached the sinus cavity.
Could have been my imagination, but I didn't want to test it. And I do
want to give this a good week or two before putting any air pressure on
it. Perhaps that is overly cautious?

This was the first time I had a tooth pulled, not counting two impacted
wisdom teeth as a teen. A nice little reminder about mortality. One
forgets.
