Herb,
Let's really get down to earth.
The question asked, was ... how to determine the accuracy of
micrometers. Now we find that the questioner was really talking about
dial gauge indicators .... as different from micrometers as are bassoons
from pianos, (though they both play musical notes). The words Dial,
Gauge or Indicator were not used in the original question.
A micrometer is a micrometer ... a dial gauge indicator is a dial gauge
indicator and a vernier caliper is a vernier caliper. All are of totally
different design and construction, but they all measure fine dimensions,
in their own way. They are also adjusted entirely differently.
End of subject, surely.
Dennis.
