Journal-Constitution ran a squib today celebrating the fact that The Jewish Federation of Rio
de Janeiro prevailed. :-)

Adolf Hitler will ride aboard a float as part ofBrazil's Carnaval, which
begins Friday evening and ends Ash Wednesday. His "presence"--without a
dance and song the Carnaval producers claim --in what is called an
allegoric float car pushed by revellers down the Samba/Carnavaldrome is
part of the Viradouro samba school's official script presented for
approval to the Independent League of Samba Schools.
The Nazi dictator will be included in a "show"which includes sculptures of
nude bodies and skeletons--in Auschwitz stlyle--as part of the "school's
"theme appropiately translated from the Portuguese as "To Horrify."
Repelled by the proposed samba parade of horrors, Sergio Niskier,President
of the Jewish Federation of Rio says "If the presence of an actor dressed
as Hitler,showing him as a blood-thirsty murderer was to portrayed ,we
would not object.But it is inappropriate to include the festival
atmosphere with a
scene symbolizing the (fictional) gassing of the (fictional) six million
Jews in (fictional) gas chambers"
Carnival sin
The scheduled event is called a holo-hoax float and "Carnival sin"
