Thanks for your reply John.But what I am referring to is cutting the piece
from say 350 measures to 300 playing G-d so to speak as the composer is long
gone.

It's very time consuming. For doubling, I stitched
together the oboe & EH parts of the Dvorak New World
Largo movement, so I didn't have to switch back &
forth between parts. Scissors, scotch tape (removable)
& Xerox machine. Did same with Alfred Reed's Xmas
music. Best to label the first opportunity to change
instruments to give yourself maximum time to adjust.
Have to keep track of count while doing this. Mental
& physical dexterity & a tad of moxie required. With
MUTS trickier yet but eminently doable.
