I'd say this is a good example of something I have preached for
years. A "professional" reed is not necessarily really hard or
stiff, it is balanced and has a well shaped tip that is thin enough
to vibrate well. I'm convinced one does not have to 'suffer' to
play the oboe--other than the suffering of making reeds.
