You know, I almost got the answer to this one (for oboe, which would
surely be as difficult to do as on bassoon). A colleague and I
cornered Cynthia Steljes after a Quartetto Gelato concert. She had
done something in one of the numbers which sounded suspiciously like
a flutter tongue. We had just asked her what the heck that was, and
she had just got as far as explaining that it was not really that,
but was in fact...

At that point the other members of the group rescued her to go and
help them make nice at the dog and pony show in the lobby. Never did
get the rest of the answer. And tragically, never will.
