Subj: [DR-L] Standing in rehearsal, thumbrests and finger stretch
Date: Sat, 15 Dec 2007 17:18:22 -0500

Hi all,

to Janie: they all stood when I was in your neck of the woods. :-)

Thumbs: Muts-less: the baroque oboe doesn't have a thumbrest but also
only weighs about a third of a baroque oboe.

Finger stretch: My first oboe da caccia was made by Marcel Ponseele who
is playing in the video. When I asked him about how I was supposed to be
able to reach the sixth fingerhole with my small hands he wrote back:
sleep with shoes between your fingers. Needless to say, after trying
this I found some other solutions :-)

Matthew
