Many ,many thanks for this!
What a world,the writer/musicologist/composer of this study is well known to
me and I have met him live.It took someone --you--to e mail me from
California to inform me what went on here in Brazil musically in the early
19th centruy!
Crowl,the composer, has an oboe concerto, by the way!

Here is a link to some interesting music and musicians from the period you
mention. I don't think Reicha would have gone to the tropics because by
then his health was already failing, but I notice reference to a composer
named Rocha in the article - no quintets but ....
