Hi Matthew and list- (if I mentioned this before, just smile and mutter
"Alzheimers...) -your comment on Vibrato makes me wonder how much of
Teresa Stich-Randall has been heard? She was an American soprano who
made it to the Vienna Opera in the 60's and could turn down the vibrato
(Mozart especially) long before it became fashionable with Emma Kirby et
al. She could hit the high notes without having to ever "glide" to them.
The voice fanfare in Handel's Ode to St. Cecelia comes to mind- A
Westminster recording I have. I have yet to hear Mozart's Exultate
Jubilate or Laudamus Te (Mass in c) as well as she has done. Some of the
recordings are making it to YouTube- here is a nice Telemann cantata
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t0MtqYikDc as posted by Otterhouse, who
does some nice restorations. http://www.youtube.com/user/otterhouse
