Co-op Press is pleased to announce that Katherine Young, Naomi Gray, =20
and Marguerite Lynn William=92s recording of Sy Brandon=92s =93Meditation =
=20
and Dance=94 for oboe, cello and harp was selected by our judges to =20
receive the first prize of $700.00 and a release on an Emeritus =20
Recordings CD in its 2007 Recording Competition. The second prize of =20
$300 and a release on an Emeritus Recordings CD was awarded to Abigail =20=

Kegel Walsh and Jared Elder for their recording of Sy Brandon=92s =93Three=
=20
Preludes=94 for flute and guitar.

Katherine Young was appointed principal oboe of the Florida Orchestra =20=

in March 2007. She previously completed a fellowship with the New =20
World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida, where she served as principal =20=

oboe on numerous occasions and during residencies at the Accademia de =20=

Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy, and New York's Carnegie Hall. Katherine =20=

has served as a guest principal oboe in the Saint Paul Chamber =20
Orchestra and the San Diego Symphony. She has performed in the music =20=

festivals of Tanglewood, Spoleto USA, Banff, Music in the Mountains in =20=

Durango, Colorado, and with the National Repertory Orchestra. An =20
active chamber musician, Katherine has participated in chamber music =20
festivals in Sarasota, Florida, and Norfolk, Connecticut, and has =20
presented recitals in Washington, D.C., Columbus, Ohio, and throughout =20=

south Florida. She is a passionate advocate for arts in education and =20=

frequently takes part in outreach programs, which promote the arts in =20=

inner city schools. Katherine serves on the faculty at the University =20=

of Tampa and at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in western Michigan. Ms. =20
Young holds a Bachelor of Music degree and Performer's Certificate =20
from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music degree from =20
Rice University. Her primary teachers include Richard Killmer, Robert =20=

Atherholt, and Donna Conaty.
