Dear List,

This is the saddest message I have ever written: One of the great =20
human beings on this earth has passed away yesterday in a hospital in =20
Florence, Italy, of massive heart, kidney and liver failure.

Roger Birnstingl writes that he was with Bill and Liz (fortunately all =20
the family was with him when he died), and at that time Bill was his =20
usual cheerful, wity and informative self.

Needless to say there will be a memorial to him in the 4th DR issue. =20
Please all of you who want to add your so many reminiscences of Bill =20
send them to me and I will put the tribute together. What a sad thing =20
to have to do.
