I just performed it yesterday! It does not have a solo bassoon part.
It has a solo CELLO part. The solo part, however, is extremely
idiomatic for baroque (or modern) bassoon and is completely independent
from the continuo part.
The Wedding Cantata is BWV 196. It is an early work, about 12 minutes
in length. There are no recitatives. The work is scored for 4 solo
voices, 2 violins, viola, solo cello, and continuo.
The performance I participated in yesterday was with the Washington Bach
Consort on period instruments. As (baroque) bassoonist, I doubled the
continuo on the Sinfonia and the two choruses. I did not play on the
inner movements.

I have two inquires:
Someone once told me that Bach had a Wedding Cantata with a solo bassoon
part.
Has anyone played this or have any number for this Cantata?
I have a student who wants to rent a bassoon. Is this possible and if
so where is a good place to rent.
He lives in Atlanta and is going home next week should anyone know of a
music store with this option.
