Oh, no, Nashville is quite far from the Smoky Mountains. In fact, there
is another mountain range between the Smokies and Nashville, the
Cumberland range. These "mountains" are not very high, and sometimes
the feature is referred to as the "Cumberland Plateau." This is much
closer to Nashville, but the city is located on fairly low rolling
hills.

Tennessee has three different geological areas - the mountainous east,
the hilly center, and the flat plains of the western part of the state.
