Yes, good idea. It removes the problem that maybe the oboe is out of
tune, and also sets a standard that no one can dispute.

Here's where we part company. Tuning is usually done much too loudly,
just because everyone is trying to hear themselves over the din. IF
they tried tuning softly - or even VERY SOFTLY - this problem would
tend to go away. That has been my experience over a lot of years with
a lot of orchestras.
