I play in a community orchestra that doesn't even try for dynamics and into=
nation. It's been a real shock after playing in university ensembles for se=
veral years!=20
Playing loud and louder has been freeing, but tiring. I've been liking my R=
DG cane, building a lot of endurance, and learning some great repertoire. I=
expect that soon it'll grow old and I'll leave the ensemble.
I was contracted to play Peter and the Wolf (orchestral version) among othe=
r things for an arts festival. The pay was decent, and for some reason that=
led me to believe that the ensemble would perform at a certain level. Read=
about the loudest tuning note in oboe history on my blog: http://oneflute1=
