My understanding is that super glue was invented to replace sutures and bandages, hence its ability to bond skin. This also means saliva/salt water will eventually dissolve the material covering the reed and have to be replaced, since the glue was meant for dissolving sutures.
I think I would have reeds stuck to my fingers if I tried this... :}
