I remember once experimenting with Super Glue (the thinnest kind), in an
attempt to quickly salvage an oboe reed the had cracked centrally, just at
the tip. I was amazed that the reed functioned very well after
application. Later I examined the reed more thoroughly and found that the
small amount of Super Glue had spread very evenly and thinly well around
where I thought I had applied it. I then repeated the application on the
other blade.

So now I had a Super Glue coated reed, and it lasted quite a while. Maybe
if I had coated the inside of the blank before scraping, it would have
lasted even longer!

Hmmm... maybe I'll re-visit this procedure...
