Err that's OBOIST...I think I can spell it correctly by now!

Subject: [DR-L] Musical Saws and double reeds

Dear List(s):
I am delighted to read herein the insightful e mails of David Weiss,retired
first obost of the LA Phil .Knowing that his hobby is playing the musical
saw,would appreciate any feedback from David or other Listers about whether
there are other works besides one by George Crumb for músical saw and
chamber music ensemble or double reeds?
I performed the Crumb work(is it recorded?) with the composer present some
time ago and found this unique instrument intriguing,to say the least.Any
other information on the musical saw,its origins,etc would be appreciated.
(Plse don't refer me to some internet site---otherwise I wouldn't make this
query in the first place!)
A lovely Sunday!

Rgds,

Harold Emert
