I do not imagine much of a need for such a device at my desk in the house as
I am so very used to the 75W lamp I have used for what seems forever.
However it would be invaluable in the lighting of performance venues if one
needed to make an adjustment. Then it would need to be very light and small.
I did make one of these things with a keychain light and a clear (Chris
Weiatt) plaque. Engineering an easy way to keep them together has stumped
me, but it works very well in its primitive way. I would buy/use such a
device if it was not so darned expensive (and clunky) as the one discussed.
Someone, years ago, found a way to illuminate a reed with a modified rifle
bore light inserted where the mandrel usually goes. With a properly modified
plaque, this would operate much as a mandrel/plaque combination and possibly
solve this little problem of lighting the blade. Anyone know what happened
to that idea?
