Dear List(s):
Don't know if the film I just enjoyed"The Last Bandoneon (A Ultima
Bandoneon) ,"an Argentine-Venezuelan production, is available where you
reside but must recommend it for those interested in this fascinating
instrument(looks like an accordion) of the tango,Piazzolla, etc.
Actually in many ways it's register matches the oboe!
The film would be a fined incentive for something similar to be produced
and filmed involving oboes or bassoons and its players, makers, repairers
and teachers.
It features a young and talented bandoneon player searching Buenos Aires
for a better bandoneon than the the primitive one she owns, going to persons
who sell and fix them and participating in a tango
orchestra(violins, viola, cello, guitar, piano and bandoneons) and lessons with
a Master.
A group of elderly bandoneon veterans ,who gather on Saturdays to
continue to pursue their love for the instrument and tango,is also featured.
And they speak a bit(all in Spanish) about what the instrument means and
meant to them during their apparently happy lives and why they were
attracted to the instrument.
No fussy dialogues, complex script, or symbolism but somehow a film on
this subject--the love for music--meant more to this observer/oboist than
many Oscar-awarded films.
Awaiting a similar film on double reeds!
(Or has there been one done already?)

Best
