From: "Miriam Williams" <mwquacker@-----.net> Subj: [DR-L] red alert fingering Date: Wed, 01 Aug 2007 14:32:58 -0400
Finger low C#; lift RH 1st finger.
Works for me, anyway, and at least one other player that I know of.
I'm afraid to let my younger students know of it for fear they will annoy
and disrupt family and band directors. ONTOH, that might be worth it... ; )
I've been playing around a bit with other alternate fingerings and have
found a few that will give some fairly stable and in-tune harmonics;
high G (the one that sits on to of the staff):
finger low B, lift first finger RH.
Also: finger forked F add C key, lift 2nd finger RH
C, 3rd space: finger low B, lift 1st finger, LH
C, above staff: finger F with 2nd octave key
I'm sure there is a listing of harmonics somewhere. I have an old copy for
them somewhere on file given to me by a (now retired) band director.
Sometimes they come in v handy.
Best,
Miriam
