"but the distinct minority will
need something just a tiny bit better. Not everyone needs a Lexus, and they
are satisfied with the Camry."

This is what you wrote. If its an analogy to musical instruments,
specifically a heckel to a Fox, the clear implication is that not everybody needs or
RECOGNIZES the superiority of the heckel. Well, to imply that people like Bill
Buchman or John Miller etc don't need or recognize the best (or somebody such as
myself for that matter) is more than a tad insulting.

"and just what the heck is a
Heckelphile?'

Its my word for bassoonists who's heads and ears are still stuck in the first
half of the last century, back when heckel actually was the best bassoon out
there.

"and which is
neither better nor worse, only preferred?"

Ah, now it sounds like you're getting "it".

"I like Porsches; my wife hates them and prefers Ferrari. So, which of us is
"right"?"

Neither. Matter of choice, which is the point. Of course, you're now
comparing two top of the line race cars while before you were comparing a luxury car
with a well made but basic auto. Big difference in analogies.
