From: "HAROLD" <harold@-----.br> Subj: [DR-L] Blown out oboes Date: Fri, 15 Jun 2007 14:38:29 -0400
I was playing at a rehearsal yesterday with my lovely and expensive Loree
Royal(2000) and next to me was a young gal playing a lovely but old
Marigaux.
"Don't sell that instrument it has a lovely sound and is so well tuned,Just
change some springs and pads and it will be fine,"I--now the
ageing,experiencing oboist,advised the young lady
Her oboe,a Marigaux, turns out to be the one I was playing when I first came
to Brazil to take up the position of first oboe of the Brazilian Symphony in
1973.
Could kick myself for selling it!
Rgds,
Harold in Rio
