Dear Pat,
I use vent a little my rigth first finger for Eb (in the same way that we
use vent left hand first finger for the high G)
Ab (1/2) X X / O O X
plus Wisper key
or (1/2) X X / O X X (it depends on the tonal context)
Wk/ Bb
and
Eb X X O / (1/2) X X
(When I wrote 1/2 it doesn't men exactly half closed or open: You'll need
find the exactly amount)
Some people use left the first finguer Rigth Hand for the Eb, for me (and
for my bassoon) it's better open a little than left the finger. Also in this
way the Eb (that is usually flat) is higher. And when I need a higher Eb I
use:
X X O / X O X but it doesn't work for slur from high Ab.
Another possibility is use:
X O X / O O O
or
Eb X X O / X X X
C#
But I don't like the last one very much.
