Deb et all,
I come from a culture where people literaly "shower" in perfumes and
colognes when they go out. Folks in the US expecially (at least most
of them) wear little or no perfume at all and are sensitive to them.
After I did my lasik eye procedure a few years ago I became super
sensitive to most perfumes especially men's cologne which in my
opinion all smell like Pinesole!! I dont have asthma but feel a huge
flame of fire in my face when a whiff of perfume passes by.
Yes I have zero tolerance towards people with any kind of bad smell.
So what to do?
I think if people take a shower, wash their mouthes and brush their
teeth, wear clean clothes before a concert (not clothes that have been
stored for ages) and wear a good deoderant on clean armpits then they
should be fine. Even a little tiny bit of a perfume that actually
blends well with their skin ( not so many people seem to understand
the fact that what smells good on me might smells like poo on them)
and is only smell-able (is this a word? heheh) when others sniff your
neck ;)
I believe wearing pronounced perfumes where others can smell it at the
other end of the concert hall is imposing and rude. The same applies
for BO! Those with bad breath problem after long periods of blowing
can take a strip of Listerin Mint or chew a gum, at least it helps for
a bit.
My 2 cents
Sameer
