Dear Jim Jeter and the List:
Today, Maestro Morricone explains, according to the Jornal do Brasil
newspaper, that he prohibited musicians in the orchestra which is about to
perform his music tonight from wearing purple because "purple is the color
of death in iTALY." Our Listers in Italy can confirm this?
Speaking of musicians and "proper"attire, Iran's Foreign Relations Minister
Manouchehr Mottaki hastily departed a dinner, according ot the UK's
Independent newspaper,in Egypt "because the violinist was wearing a read
dress without sleeves."The newspaper report though hints that the fact that
US Foreign Minister Condeleeza Rice was supposed to sit at his table may
have influenced the Iranian's decision to depart.
Musicians,double reeders:Careful about your attire!
A fine weekend

Subject: [doublereeds] Seeing red...roasting swans...
Hi, Harold, and All -
Harold, it's a good thing I've not played "under"
Maestro Ennio Morricone, as I'd probably see "red," if
any conductor had the audacity to tell people what
color to wear in a rehearsal setting! I'm hoping he
was joking and not seriously thinking folks would
acquiesce to his every whim and go home and change
their clothes to please "King Baby"! (Fortunately,
unions in the U.S. do come in handy, when conductors
forget we're not living in the 1930's, anymore!)
