Well, perhaps one could skip the paste (as I often do just before practicing or going to a gig). I once heard it said that the use of toothpaste (or like products) are actually more for lengthening the scrubbing action time. I have recently been using a battery operated one; I like the results, but the buzz/tickle factor on the soft tissue is not something easy to get used to!
Thanks for the comment, Angela. I find these kinds of things interesting to pass on. Your anecdote also a good point for thorough rinsing after using paste when brushing.
