Teflon tape sounds like a good idea as it is easy to remove. In VietNam
back in 1969 , when I had no access to pads, I took goldbeater's skin
(also called "fishskin" I had in my reedmaking kit and wrapped it around
the old pad and "glued" it to the top of the key with nail polish. Not
a recommendation, but it worked!
