Maybe its time to write Loree/Alain and suggest new research is needed on
this vital note of forked F?
How did it sound on the Baroque oboe?Very well if I recall?

I think that the adjusting screws are not for the purpose of regulating
the height of the pad when the key is open, but rather to make it
possible to adjust the key so that it is completely closed when not in
use. As we all know, if that pad doesn't seal completely, nothing from
low D on down wants to work at all.

Jerry Sirucek used to call this the "oboist's daily adjustment."
