Thanks for your observation.
It seems Selmer has sunk (IMO) in saxophone quality, too. One of my students
bought a new one, and it's only been a few months and he had to take it back
for adjustment. They gave him a tenor ligature for an alto sax, too, so that
was a problem. I couldn't believe they did that.

I have a vintage Mark VI, and don't get to play it much. One of my high schl
students is preparing a solo, and I let her try it; she liked it much better
than her student model (more responsive high notes, better overall tuning,
mellower tone).

I tell parents that, in the instrument world, you generally get what you pay
for.
