Miriam,
These could very well just be the natural grain of the wood that will come
and go depending on the season. I have several of these in my upper joint
around my octave key vents and the normal places, like my trill keys. I have had
them since I got the horn almost 7 years ago. They look like cracks starting,
but tend to stay there all the time. I don't think its anything to worry
about, but nonetheless, keep an eye. Its probably just natural wood grain.
