Subj: [DR-L] Hairline cracks was Old oboes
Date: Sun, 04 Feb 2007 14:00:59 -0500

Dear reeders,

This is the 3rd winter for my Loree Royale Ak bore; it's been playing great
and I've been on the watch for any kind of cracking.

On the top joint, there are a few short (one inch and less) teensy cracks,
like one might get in the bark part of the reed during wrapping. They can be
felt with a fingernail and are alongside the lower joint tone holes (L
side). They do not seem to be getting worse. I noticed them only just a yr
ago or so. I bought the oboe from Nora Post. When I send it in this summer
for a check-up, I'll make sure she takes a good look at that area.

Anyone think this is something to be concerned about?

Miriam
