From: "HAROLD" <harold@-----.br> Subj: [DR-L] Bizet for oboe Date: Sun, 04 Feb 2007 08:39:38 -0500
Good day List!
As I write this, the lovely second mvt. of Bizet's Symphony with one of the
best works written for oboe is playing the radio.
Anyone know anymore on how this solo was written?Any stories about it?I can
only imagine the melody was written/composed for an opera Bizet meant to
compose.
The one and only time I heard it was the NYCBallet with Randall Wolgang
playing it so well and his colleagues not even complimenting him on such
lovely playing(seems he had played it so often the season I heard it that it
was considered normal to be performed so well).
A shame Bizet never wrote a concerto for oboe!
Best wishes,
Harold Emert
