It is with great sadness that we let you know the passing of Cynthia
Steljes, internationally renowned oboist and founding member of
Quartetto Gelato. She died in Toronto on December 29 from pleural
mesothelioma, a rare form of asbestos-related lung cancer. We at MMI
enjoyed her warmth, openness, and talent. We extend our sympathies to
all who were touched by her music and personality.
