Subj: [DR-L] MUTS speaks on Separation of Church and State

Though not doublereed in subject, I couldn't help but desire to jump in
to this
thread begun on the woodwind.org doublereed list-
Like it or not, we are all held by the exogenous indoctrination within
our youth-
to break that hold we brought up our daughter with no religious bias
but a good
understanding of seeking the roots of any "pretty tree" out there whose
fruits
are infallible. Although an artist now, she has a deep interest in
science and
the natural world, having all her life chosen to watch "Nova", "Cosmos",
and the
many choices on the Discovery, National Geographic, and Science
channel. It is
the arrogance of religion that bothers her most, for any "true" believer
to
continue his faith MUST assume another religion is false and bring up
their
offspring to accept bias from birth to INSURE the validity of that
faith. In
our US chief executive (and unfortunately, military commander in chief)
we can
see that faith overides reason - his appointment choices are not based
on who is
the best for a job as determined by peer review, but who is most in
line with
his religious views. A danger, as it has held back advances in health
care and
research in limiting global warming. The majority religion here has an
inherent
distrust of science, stemming back to the Garden of Eden belief and the
Serpent's
prodding of Eve to have her eyes opened by eating from the tree of
Knowledge.
The public in their own religious bias overlooked his IQ when
electing him
and now are finally disturbed by his narrow minded choices that ignores
the
reason of the majority. We believe that reason based on science
eventually will
win out with many unfortunate pitfalls along the way- Homo sapiens is
finally
surpassing the abilities ascribed to its creator by its much more
ignorant
ancestors. I gave up believing in any "intelligent creative power" when
I
realized I could do a much better job than any described and believed in
by
religion. Concrete example- study parasitism and you will realize the
opportunism of evolution and the obvious lack of any divine reason in
insuring
the suffering of millions-only now by our own seeking/keeping of
knowledge are
we beating back what has evolved with us to take advantage of us.
