Dear Mr. Morelli,

thank you very much for your very detailed and thought-provoking post.
Please forgive me that I react only to a quite small section of it as quoted
below. Some time ago I have done a project with the studio XVII Augsburg
consisting of two Zelenka quattros (the first and the sixth) combined with
some Telemann music. We chose this combination because of the antagonisms
involved: Telemann's extreme economical mastery of composition and his great
success with his contemporaries while often being belitteled in our time
versus Zelenka's excessive and manaical disregard of any practical aspects
and his astounding lack of success during his lifetime in spite of his
overwhelming genius while nevertheless acheiving posthumous fame today. In
preparing for this programm I have done some reading, of course. But I have
not learned anything about any personal relationship whatsoever between the
two composers. Therefore I would be very grateful if you could elaborate a
little more about the quoted remark of yours.

Thank you very much in advance and a happy New Year to you and to all the
List members,

Gerhard Veith
Augsburg, Germany
