Hi -

Sheet music? You might check out composer/publisher Mike Curtis. He has
several books of jazz duet arrangements, and is a bassoonist himself.
I've only played some of his Klezmer duets (for two oboes) and found
them enjoyable and audience-friendly. I haven't tried his jazz duets
yet, but I know they are out there.

Also, Paul Hanson has written a book teaching jazz improvisation for
the bassoon.

I find myself wondering what Mr. Ortwein means by "real" jazz, as the
term jazz has been applied to a staggering variation of styles and
forms. But that discussion would probably be better served on another
forum.
